Graham (AT&T) says:
The AT&T service is reliable and has only not been working three times in the 4.5 years I have been a customer. However the speed "promised" (because they always refer to the service as being a best effort service and that the downstream and upstream rates you are paying for are not guaranteed) is not what one gets consistently. I think it is about time that the FCC required telcos, MSO's cellular companies and others who provide broadband services (fixed or mobile) to advertise 'real-world' and guaranteed throught-put rates for their services not the maximum and best effort rates. Afterall nearly every other company that advertises a prodcut or service has to advertise it accurately and make no false claims or suffer the wrath of the federal authorities, why should the telcos, MSO's and other broadband providers be exempt and therefore allowed to advertise service quality and rates they have no hope of delivering.
