Very slow, seems like a lot of contention and real time apps dont work. Costly too. Verizon Fios is faster and more expensive, still some contention but faster than Brighthouse

Jim Fry says:

Overall the service is decent. My issue is there seems to be a lot minor blips that don't warrant a customer service call but are annoying all the same. I am currently giving serious consideration to moving to DSL with the local telco as I hear many positive comments about the DSL level of srvice provided.

Broadband Census Taker says:

Service has been fairly reliable. But tech support is clueless and doesn't know they are clueless. I've found it impossible to reach real systems/network managers.

Broadband Census Taker says:

Generally good with only a couple of service disruptions each year.

Rod says:

Service is fine when it works. They are always very slow to diagnose problems in the network (much of the time the "smoke test" at DSLReports.com shows 80%+ packet loss on one or more of their upstream routers).

John says:

I switched my service to 512k because the 5Mbps package experienced MAJOR slowdowns in the evening. Their customer support is horrible, and i have no other choices for broadband access, short of subscribing to a mobile provider's data plan.

Broadband Census Taker says:

Fairly stable broadband currently (jan 2008).A couple of years ago the connection had corrupt dynamic IP address issues from time to time. It has been good the past couple of years. Overall good speed. No noticeable slow downs.

Navonod says:

THe service varies dramtically during the day. Mornings and early afternoon are terribly slow. Evenings are somewhat better. Very difficult to get accurate, real time info on system status.

Rollie says:

Shared -- upstream fairly constant, but downstream varies from 3M up to 12M or so Also trying uverse -- always comes close to 9M down and 1.4 or so up (10 and 1.5 promised)

Mar 15, 2009 8:22 pm

Rollie Cole says:

Every now and then goes out for an hour or two; speeds down drop to 3 or 4 Mb in busy periods, but upload consistently 1.8 or so

oldmanegan says:

The advertised rate is achieved at times; however, as cable is a "battle for bandwidth" amongst those on the same neighborhood feed, the quite obvious changes in bandwidth availability occur right as school gets out for the day when the kids all seem to get on line and then in the evening when everyone seems to be on line. Unfortunate.
